Turkish Apricot Update 07/11/2022

  • Exports in October were 8,285 tons compared to 8,897 tons last year  
  • Exports year to date are 22,711 tons compared to 28,675 tons last year

Despite prices 27% higher than the same period last year, exports remain strong. Prices are unchanged for the past 2 months. Supply in Malatya is tight.

The Lira $ exchange rate is also unchanged at 18.6 to the $. Officially inflation is 85%, with unofficial estimates putting it significantly higher.

Unless there is some depreciation in the Lira, we will start to see upward movement on apricot prices, with energy, wages and packaging costs all likely to experience a year end hike.
