- Exports in April were 3,451 tons compared to 4,108 tons last year
- Exports year to date are 65,667 tons compared to 55,418 tons last year, an increase of 18%
The severe frost of April 11th has devastated the 2025 crop. At the time all areas were either in bloom or fruit had formed and trees were in full leaf. Temperatures was recorded at -15C along with heavy snow, this is unprecedented for April. The crop expectation is close to zero.

As you can see in the picture above, fruit and leaves were destroyed. This picture was taken on the 2nd of May 3 weeks after the frost. In many areas like the above there was no sign of new leaf buds emerging, as this has never happened before farmers and agronomists have no idea if these trees will recover in time for 2026 bloom or even at all. Older trees were the worst affected and there are a lot of trees being pulled and cut up for fuel. Younger trees and Kaba Asi variety look to be in better shape.
We believe there is roughly 50,000 tons of current crop left in Turkey, some with packers committed for sale through new crop, and some with the growers. We dont know how much of the commitments will be honoured, and availability for the coming season will depend on this. Currently there is some activity in the local markets with larger packers paying between $10,000 and $11,000 per ton depending on size and quality, we suspect this activity will dry up fairly quickly.
