Frost Damage!
- Exports in March were 6,559 tons compared to 6,561 tons last year, almost identical
- Exports year to date are 62,216 tons compared to 51,309 tons last year, an increase of 19%
At the current rate of exports we should end the season with limited carryover.
Following a very warm spell at the beginning of March there was an accelerated bloom, with most areas flowering simultaneously rather than the usual 4 to 6 weeks staggered bloom depending on altitude that is the norm. There followed several nights of frost between the 19th and 22nd of March with temperatures between -2C and -6C and several inches of snow.

There is clearly significant damage but at this time it is not possible to quantify it. We have further widespread frosts forecast over the next few days forecast to be -6C in Akcadag, -8C in Darende/Hekimhan and -7C in Dogansehir.
